Nickel Alloy 200 is manufactured using vacuum induction melting (VIM) to ensure high purity and low gas content. Subsequent processes such as hot rolling, cold drawing, and precision grinding can produce products of various shapes and tolerances. It exhibits excellent resistance to reducing media, alkaline solutions (especially caustic soda), and numerous salt solutions; possesses high electrical conductivity and good magnetostrictive properties, making it widely applicable in the electronics field; and in sulfur-free reducing atmospheres, NI200 can be used for extended periods up to approximately 600°C, and features low gas solubility and low vapor pressure, making it suitable for aerospace components and energy applications.

1. Nickel Alloy 200 Chemical Composition/wt%:

Ni≥99, C≤0.15, Cu≤0.25, Si≤0.3, Mn≤0.35, S≤0.01, Fe≤0.4, Cr≤0.2

2. Nickel Alloy 200 Processing Performance:

Cold working: Cold rolling, cold drawing, spinning, and other cold working methods. Cold working will cause work hardening; intermediate annealing is required for large deformations to restore plasticity.

Hot working: Recommended temperature range: 650°C-1150°C (approximately 1200°F-2100°F). Avoid prolonged heating in the 815°C to 1040°C range to prevent excessive grain growth. TIG, MIG, and shielded metal arc welding methods can be used. Oil and oxides must be thoroughly cleaned before welding.

Machining: The material is relatively soft and viscous, which can easily lead to tool sticking and difficulty in chip removal. Sharp tools should be used, and low speed, high feed rates, and sufficient cooling are recommended.

3. Nickel Alloy 200 Heat Treatment Process

热处理类型Heat treatment type核心目的Typical process parameters (temperature and atmosphere)Key control points
Annealing (Intermediate/Finished Product)This process partially relieves residual stress, preventing deformation and cracking during subsequent processing or use, while simultaneously preserving some of the material's strength.

Temperature: 700°C - 900°C

Atmosphere: Protective atmosphere (such as hydrogen or argon) or vacuum is recommended.

The holding time depends on the thickness of the workpiece cross-section, ensuring thorough heat penetration.
Stress reliefThis process partially relieves residual stress, preventing deformation and cracking during subsequent processing or use, while simultaneously preserving some of the material's strength.

Temperature: 500°C - 600°C

Atmosphere: Protective atmosphere or air (may lead to oxidation)

Strictly control the temperature to prevent recrystallization.
Solution treatmentBy completely dissolving precipitated phases such as carbides, a uniform solid solution structure is obtained, optimizing corrosion resistance.

Temperature: 870°C - 980°C

Atmosphere: Must be a protective atmosphere or vacuum

Subsequently, rapid cooling (water quenching or rapid air cooling) is performed.

4. Nickel Alloy 200 Application Areas:

Chemical and Alkali Industry: Chemical reactors and heat exchangers, caustic soda processing equipment, chemical storage and transport tanks, synthetic fiber processing equipment.

Food Processing and Pharmaceuticals: Food processing equipment, salt refining equipment.

Electronics and Electrical Engineering: Electronic/electrical components, battery connectors/terminals, heating element wires.

Aerospace and High-End Manufacturing: Aerospace and missile components, rocket engine casings, aircraft components.

Marine and Mining: Marine mining equipment, marine fittings.

Important Selection Note: Pure nickel 200 has a key usage limitation; it is not suitable for long-term use in high-temperature environments above 315°C (approximately 600°F).
