I. Introduction:
MP35N is a Ni-Cr-Co-Mo multiphase alloy, non-magnetic, and possesses exceptionally high tensile strength, reaching 300 KSI (2068 MPa). It also exhibits good ductility, toughness, and excellent corrosion resistance. Furthermore, this alloy demonstrates remarkable resistance to sulfidation, high-temperature oxidation, and hydrogen embrittlement.
These unique properties of MP35N are achieved through work hardening, phase transformation, and aging treatment. When used under fully work-hardened conditions, the operating temperature ranges from -200°C to 315°C, with a maximum recommended temperature of 750°F (399°C).
MP35N density: 8.43 g/cm³
II. Properties
MP35N exhibits excellent resistance to sulfidation, high-temperature oxidation, hydrogen embrittlement, salt spray, and most mineral acids. This alloy demonstrates excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking under harsh environments and high strength conditions. It also exhibits extremely high resistance to localized corrosion, such as pitting and crevice corrosion.
This alloy exhibits excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking under harsh, high-strength conditions, whereas most conventional alloys would crack under similar conditions. MP35N also demonstrates excellent resistance to pitting and crack corrosion.
In seawater environments, regardless of strength level or material condition, MP35N is capable of withstanding general crack corrosion and stress corrosion.
MP35N is an inert metal. If bonded to more reactive metals, such as carbon steel, 316 stainless steel, or Monel K-series metals, and an electrical current is applied, electrochemical corrosion is likely to occur.
MP35N alloy conforms to the relevant NACE MR-01-75 standard, with a maximum hardness of Rockwell C35 (which can be achieved to Rockwell C48 through special cold rolling and aging treatment). (NACE MR-01-75 is a standard regarding the sulfide stress cracking resistance of metallic materials used in oilfield equipment.)
III. Characteristics of MP35N Alloy
① High strength, excellent ductility and toughness.
② It is the most corrosion-resistant fastener alloy, capable of withstanding most mineral acids, hydrogen sulfide, seawater, and salt spray environments, and exhibits excellent resistance to stress corrosion, crevice corrosion, and hydrogen embrittlement.
③ The maximum operating temperature is 400℃.
④ It has the highest fatigue strength among corrosion-resistant fastener materials.
⑤ It has the highest minimum shear strength of 1000MPa among corrosion-resistant fastener materials.
IV. Applications
Due to its rare combination of multiple excellent properties, MP35N is widely used in various working conditions. This alloy is used in fasteners, springs, non-magnetic electronic components, and instrument parts in the pharmaceutical, seawater, oil and gas field, chemical, and food processing industries.
